The Prisoner of War Committee of Michigan is a Michigan non-profit organization founded on July 17, 1973 by POW/MIA family members. The objectives of the Committee are the same today as they were in 1973:
1. The return of all US prisoners of war
2. The fullest possible accounting for those still missing
3. The repatriation of all recoverable remains
The Committee works to foster positive public awareness for the POW/MIA issue through:
A seven-member board of directors and four officers, elected annually, govern the Committee. Membership is open to persons meeting criteria set forth in the P.O.W. Committee by-laws.
The Prisoner of War Committee of Michigan works in partnership with the National League of POW-MIA Families and various veterans' organizations to protect and further the interests, rights and welfare of American prisoners of war, missing in action, and their families.
The military members of any generation need to know that someone will continue to look for them if they are captured or go missing. As a nation, we cannot forget our responsibilities to those who serve. As individuals, we must pledge our commitment, too. We must be tireless in our work, celebrate small victories, and act with integrity and dedication to our common cause ... until they all come home.
Public Welcome! Unless otherwise notified. Meetings are held at Dunham/Ray VFW Post 2645 2422 West Nine Mile Road (near Telegraph Rd.) Southfield, Michigan 48034-3911.
